At WebexOne 2025, the Bucher + Suter crew spent some pre-conference hours volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. This was our second time volunteering with the organization, the first being during Cisco Live! 2025. During our first volunteer day, we spent time preparing and serving food to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH), while their children undergo treatment at nearby Rady Children’s Hospital. During this volunteer event, we wanted to spend more time directly with the children themselves and were thrilled to bring craft supplies and activities to entertain the kids. The biggest hit of the Halloween-themed activities was, no surprise, the cookie decorating station, complete with frosting, sprinkles, and sugar eyeballs. The kids and families also loved the photo booth, make-your-own clay monsters, pin-the-eye-on-the-monster, and coloring.

Small Acts, Big Hearts
For me, the best part was sitting down alongside the kids, helping them get their craft supplies set up, coloring next to them, but mainly, talking to them, hearing about what grade they’re in, their favorite color, about their siblings, and so on.
Additionally, seeing my colleagues interacting with the kids and families was heartening too, as we typically only see each other in business settings. Doing volunteer events like our experience at the Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful way to get to know your co-workers in a new light, as well as yourself. Having kids myself makes experiences like this all the more impactful. I can’t imagine what the families at the RMH are going through, but I am blown away by their strength and resilience, and how each child we saw had a smile on their face, despite what may be going on in their family’s life.
Our experience at the RMH was a great way to kick off our time at WebexOne. What both events showed me was the power of connection. Whether it’s connecting with colleagues, customers, old friends, new friends, or family members we’ve just met, my time at the RMH and WebexOne left me feeling enriched and revitalized.

Why We Do It: The b+s Plus Promise
That’s one thing I love about working at Bucher + Suter: the fact that each employee is given and encouraged to take two volunteer days, whether with the company or on their own. In addition to pledging to donate 1% of our time to various non-profit organizations, the b+s PLUS program also donates 1% of our product and profits. While at WebexOne, for each booth scan we received, we donated $5 to the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. Regardless of whether people were stopping by our booth to learn more about Bucher + Suter, sign up for our party, or pick up some swag, we are delighted to donate to a good cause on behalf of all of them. So, on behalf of myself and Bucher + Suter, I just want to say thank you to the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego for letting us spend our time with your wonderful families for the second time. And thank you to everyone with whom we connected at WebexOne. We hope to see you all again soon.
