Bucher + Suter is today delighted to announce their commitment to the Pledge 1% movement. As part of the program, the company is pledging to donate 1% of its profits, time, and products to good causes under the newly established Bucher + Suter PLUS Program.
Pledge 1% is a global movement to develop a new normal for companies to have a positive social impact through their business.
Our pledges
Pledge 1% Time
What is it? The 1% Time pledge is a pledge to empower our employees to use 1% of their working time towards philanthropic activities.
How will we meet it? All Bucher + Suter employees will now receive 2 days of paid VTO (volunteer time off) per year and be presented with various opportunities to use their time in teams or individually in a variety of settings. We’re currently developing relationships with not-for-profit organizations that need help but don’t necessarily have the resources or means to meet their objectives. Community development, virtual volunteering, environmental and conservation work, and social volunteering will currently make up the main categories of VTO. Still, we’re open to engaging with other volunteering organizations as well.
Pledge 1% Profit
What is it? As the title suggests, the 1% Profit pledge involves the company giving 1% of its annual profits to good causes.
How will we meet it? In truth, we already meet this objective. Going forward, we will better demonstrate and report on our pledge to give back financially to charities and causes close to our hearts. Our ongoing donations will now form a more significant part of our event organization and sponsorship, and through our contributions to the Noser Young apprentice program, we will continue to invest in the tech stars of tomorrow. While many of our fund allocations remain ad-hoc, we will look to form bonds with organizations that can make the most of our donations.
Pledge 1% Product
What is it? As a software development and technology company, Bucher + Suter has IP and premises, we’re able to share with charities and other organizations lacking resources. The 1% Product pledge is our commitment to sharing our products, services, and assets with those who could benefit from them.
How will we meet it? We’re currently involved in space sharing at our headquarters in Switzerland, give heavily discounted rates on our products to nonprofits, and actively seek fresh opportunities to provide more of our skills and technology to organizations in need.
Next Steps
The Bucher + Suter PLUS program is a serious and significant commitment, and considerable thought has gone into its formation. As a company, we’re under no illusion that hard work lies ahead, and internally, a task group has been formed to lead the program. A 9-month plan has been lai to ensure the program’s success is built on solid foundations, to help forge the relationships with charitable organizations, and to empower our employees to use their 2 days VTO for social good.
